I’ve had my camera out and so I thought I would share my Palmera razor with the forum and especially Ralfy who has been quietly sporting his in the shave of the day thread recently.
The razor is brand new old stock but I replaced the plastic scales with a linen micatra material which I purchased from Dick in Germany. The original ones were warped.
I find you have to be very careful with these wide blades under the nose but the heft of the blade and the quality of the metal always gives the closest of shaves. I don’t use it very much because I find that the shave lasts more than 24 hours and I find that inconveniant. But that is a great credit to the razor and makes it quite exceptional.
I think this one cost me about £100 on ebay a couple of years ago, but actually that is relatively cheap compared to the price performance of many of the modern offerings.
If you see one in need of repair, they are well worth the effort. They are certainly the equal of a much more highly priced Spanish razor that often gets reviewed. Actually I think they are better.
